Dr Alyssa Marshell is a fisheries scientist with over 20 years of international experience in applied, interdisciplinary marine science research. Her research spans fields such as fish population dynamics, fisheries sustainability, and marine ecology across the Indo-Pacific, Indian Ocean, and around Australia. After earning her BSc in Marine Biology from James Cook University, Alyssa began her career as a dive instructor and marine tour guide across the Great Barrier Reef, Red Sea, Madagascar, and the Mediterranean. She later completed an MSc in Guam and a PhD at the University of Queensland, before leading fisheries science projects in Palau as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, and in Oman as an Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University. Her research blends tools such as BRUVs and ROV video surveys, acoustic telemetry, external tagging, and field surveys to address ecological and management challenges.
